The 59 App Replacements

Hello Guys,

I am back with another fun section. Previous month, precisely on 30th June, 2020, we all heard about the ban of 59 Chinese apps owing to section 69A of the country. The government said it was a move to safeguard the sovereignty and privacy of the country and its users.

It led to loss of up to 100 crores for China.

It was quite a bold move from my opinion and regardless of what you think, for or against, a lot of us are going to be facing issues. Specially, if you had uninstalled any useful app due to space issue or something, that you would be needing later for work. Believe me, I used to uninstall apps because it was off season for studies etc. Now, I have OnePlus and there are no storage issues but I am going to be assuming that either you are searching for some black versions of the app that you can use or some alternatives. Lets go with the second option, because why not for a change support our government in something?

For our entertainment and tasks, whole sea of apps lay there to be researched and used.

Disclaimer: I will be assuming most of fellow readers would be android users and this will be a list for them. But, if you can't find these apps I list, I will be giving additional links. Hope that works.

Also, I genuinely had this idea while being on a discussion with a friend and colleague and he did half research for me. (I will link his profile down below)

I have used some of the apps I mention myself (they will be getting special attention) and some I had come up while scrolling through play store.

Also, if you have the blocked apps downloaded, you will still be able to use the offline functions. Camscanner is one of the apps I still use. I will probably be switching soon.

App banned: Tiktok, Kwai

Replacement: Dubsmash (It was popular few years ago), StarMaker (You can even record yourself singing here), Reels by Instagram

App banned: ShareIt, Xender

Replacement: Was never a fan of 'shareit'. I faced issues with the model and there were lots of bug in the app. I have better alternatives. Amazing one would be, Google drive, trusted and useful across devices. Another one I have used while making VM's is Dropbox.

App banned: UC Browser, CM browser, APUS Browser, DU BROWSER

Replacement: Our own Chrome (data can be linked across devices), Firefox, Opera (small browser that doesn't take up much space). Also. UC browser used to give lots and lots of ad anyway. Web explorer, Web browser

App banned: Baidu Map

Replacement: Google Maps

App banned: Shein, ROMWE, Club Factory

Replacement: Do I have to mention? Myntra ♥ Quality of clothes and things sucked in Shein and Club factory. I will be linking a video with tips for online shopping.

Other apps: Amazon, Koovs, Flipkart

I suggest you go to official brand websites too.

App banned: Clash of Kings

Replacement: My colleague has a suggestion here, Clash of Clans. He claims its interactive and fun. His words 'Basic built is nice. Graphics are better too'

App banned: DU Battery saver

Replacement: Green battery saver (I had this in my old phone)

App banned: Helo

Replacement: Our very own Facebook and Instagram and what a surprise! You can find me there. (Links will be below)

App banned: You Cam Makeup, Beauty plus, Selfie city, Meitu, Wonder Cam, Photowonder

Replacements: PicsArt (amazing app for editing, specially for beginners), B612 beauty (comes with all the filters you need in the world), Collage Maker, Adobe Photoshop

Tip: Unless you are editing pictures to create amazing effects, please avoid using these apps. If you need filters, Instagram has amazing options. A simple sober black and white would work more than these plastic edited photo filters. I won't say become confident in your skin etc. here because I understand sometimes that real won't get the desired effect you want to bring. So go ahead, experiment, just be more subtle.

App banned: Mi community

Replacement: Website is still available for the users if really necessary

App banned: Virus Cleaner

Replacement: AVG Virus, Avast Antivirus

(I have used both, but I prefer Avast. Also, if you are in deliberate need for security, go for purchased versions of Quickheal)

App banned: Newsdog

Replacement: InShort (I swear by this. I never really was loving of the fact that we have to read news. We need to know what's out there. I even stop once now and then but, I have to prepare for my interviews so, I just need quick updates. This is a huge help, if you hate reading or watching news like me), India News, BBC news.

I swear I haven't even heard of some of these Chinese apps and I really wonder who are using these.

App banned: WeChat (Yes, we all remember Parineeti's ad. And I used to love the stickers)

Replacement: But, we have our WhatsApp ♥ with encryption ♥

App banned: QQ Mail, Mail Master

Replacement: Gmail, Yahoo mail, Email

App banned: Weibo

Replacement: I researched to find out that Weibo was a microblogging site. You can use FB, Wix app, Amino App for beginner blogging.

App banned: QQ MUSIC

Replacement: Saavn, Spotify, Wynk

App banned: Bigo Live

Replacement: Kitty Live

App banned: Parallel Space

Replacement: 2 account Dual space, Super clone

App banned: Mi video call

Replacement: Google Meet/ Duo, Skype, Jio meet, Zoom

App banned: We sync

Replacement: Sync me, Autosync

App banned: ES file explorer

Replacement: File manager

App banned: Vivo video, Vigo Video

Replacement: QU Video Inc,. Inshort video

App banned: New Video status

Replacement: Mitron video status app

Replacement: Google/Microsoft translate

Replacement: Vid status

Replacement: Telegram, Whatsapp, Fb, messenger, Skype

App banned: QQ SECURITY

Replacement: Any anti-virus software

App banned: QQ Launcher

Replacement: Apus launcher, Pie launcher. I would say use the inbuilt one to save space and life of your phone.

App banned: UVideo

Replacement: Ropose, You cut

App banned: V fly status

Replacement: Magic.ly, lyrical video status

App banned: Mobile Legend

Replacement: League of legends, Dota 2, Heroes of storm

App banned: DU privacy

Replacement: Privacy master, Applock, Gallery vault, Privacy app lock
