Hey Guys.
The title isn't a mere trap to attract views. I will be mentioning tried and tested swaps that can actually add to your health, without substituting your taste or completely changing your food habits.
Disclaimer: Before following me or even any expert, try and find out what works best for your body. Not for me, not for anyone else, for you, because in the end we all are a bit different. Though, my tips would be general health tips. Also, I am not encouraging anyone to lose weight or gain muscles. This post is simply to switch to healthier options so we can live better and feel better.
We live in an era where most of our fruits are not organic and have been grown in pesticides. The milk we drink comes probably from a cow which is subjected to a lot of hormonal therapy. The general healthy switches and vegan options aren't either easily available or too costly for people like us.
But we can always alter little things that are in reach of our own hands.
The whites are actually dangerous.
I once read some words by a PhD scientist, "We are born to like Sugar"
I am not asking you to quit the occasional sugary drink or your candies that you get for your birthdays. But, if you are a tea/coffee drinker, you might be having additional wasteful calories with absolutely no benefits.
So, instead of going for options which have aspartame (actually not so good because chemicals in the long wrong will harm you), go for genuine natural options.
Gur/gud/jaggery/honey and brown sugar.
For coffee/tea- Brown sugar.
If you going for sweet preparations, go for the other options.
2. The White Bread and Maida items
Switch for the brown options or multigrain. You might think they lack in taste and at first, it might seem so but, slowly you start to like the taste.
If you have pasta, parottas etc which also have maida in them, you can switch for brown versions for these. But, if you have them occasionally avoid the extra cost for the say of few nutrients.
Look at your diet and replace the unhealthy food, you mostly have, with a healthy option. (THIS MIGHT BE A BIT DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE)
3. Having warm water in the morning
You can add the flavour of honey and lemon or just honey or you can just have plain luke water.
Having water as the first thing in the morning is known to boost metabolism and kick start your inner organs for the new day from their relaxed state. However, even if all of these can't be proved with evidence except experiences, a glass of water won't ever harm you. So, this step can never go wrong.
4. Adding value to your rice
Okay, switching to brown rice for most of our Indian dishes won't be that tasty. But, you can make your rice healthy by adding value to it.
Protein: Adding 'soya' granules to it. Half cook the soya granules with salt, drain and add to your rice/pulao and there! You have an amazing protein meal.
If you have time, saute onion and some bell peppers in oregano, oil, soya sauce, and chilli flakes. This will add more spice to the plain rice or you have it as it is.
Cooking on the open stove: There is a saying that pressure cooker adds the extra gas to your food and kills nutrients. Not sure if that is even true but open cooking rice and then draining the water can save the extra pain and its easier without the scary noise of whistle, almost making us deaf.
5. Adding value to grains
Another staple thing we eat almost daily is our roti/chapati or (in a sophisticated way) Indian bread.
This is already healthy compared to rice. Well wrong. It highly depends on your body type and how often you have been eating what and for how long.
Rice fills me better and I would personally prefer it over roti, most of the time but, I also love roti which has added value.
1. Adding spinach
2. Carrot
3. Beetroot
For most of these recipes are available online.

We added the spinach paste(spinach+pepper+green chillies+salt to taste+ginger) to our dosa batter and even kids eat it because of the colour.

And also, I am still a kid when it comes to eating green. I used to eat these just for the sake of eating them, and I always had a counteracting action, like having few chips to compensate for the loss of taste but, with this type of food, you wouldn't need much of those mechanisms.
6. Making pizza without the base
No, I am not crazy. Instead of the store-bought maida bases, go for roti's and dosa as bases and they taste really good.
You can add the usual veggies, cheese and mayo over the Indian options and bake it for a few minutes, either in the oven or even pan.
Tip: HALF COOK THE ROTI AND DOSA, for amazing results. In the oven, just go for the heating setting because we only need enough heat to melt the cheese and make the veggies crunchier.
7. Do not skip a meal and be present
I am not being silly again. Being present means you get to enjoy the meal and know what is lacking and what is delectable in it. Also, you become aware of how much and what you are putting into your system.
Skipping a meal means you would become that beast that just wants to eat when he sits down. Remember your next day after fasting? Yeah. That.
So, instead of skipping meals, eat consciously with gaps.
All of these is coming from a person, who can't even eat a bit of food when she is sad but yes, that makes it even more appropriate. My emotions do control my appetite and thats something I am still working on, which is why I want to help others who feel similarly. Love ♥
That is all for this blog. I know this is totally unusual but I wanted to share how I view health and food. Also, if you guys have any interesting tips that transformed your way of eating the right food, tell me in the comment section.
♥♥♥ For my sister, who helped me design this topic ♥♥♥
