Rating: 4/5
I listen to audiobooks from loyalbooks through google podcasts and those of you familiar with my facebook page, must be knowing it.
I started this book as I was very keenly interested in the character and his friendship with Watson and I also plan on watching the series starring 'Benedict' and reading further books from the series.
To be very honest, this genre hasn't been my kind after childhood. I have read one or two books as a child from 'mystery and puzzles' category but I don't specifically remember any of it. So, you can say, officially I tried this genre for the first time.
And I really enjoyed the ride. Some of the chapters had me so much gripped that I would listen till 3 in the morning, which is why I will rate the novel 4 already.
Coming to the storyline. At first it is a tough job to understand how the character solves his cases but as soon as you get hold of him and his tactics, you begin cracking the cases.
This is probably the reason why I enjoyed the first chapter the most and I could begin guessing everything by third; a case of identity.
But despite the predictability, Sherloclk's weird ways don't fail to awe you.
I would love to study more about his behaviour and his personality kind. Perhaps I will understand him more by reading more about him. His complete obsession with work and peculiar ways of dealing with emotions makes me wonder if he falls in the Autism spectrum, along with having Savant Syndrome (Like Dr. Shaun Murphy from The Good Doctor)
Savant syndrome is a condition,in which someone with significant mental disabilities demonstrates certain abilities far in excess of average. (As defined by wikipedia)
On a side note, this novel had the most amazing reader. He went on gracefully emitating female characters and his roleplay as the lead duo, had me smiling. I could guess who was speaking without notes like 'said Sherlock', 'remarked Watson'.
