Have you been held in life at a place, feeling numb? I know the pandemic is not yet completely gone and the isolation has caused more harm than good to the majority of the world.
But, stories keep us alive. And, we become what we consume. Hence, here is my list of 5 movies to beat the blues and get going with your life, just the way it is. I am covering both English and Hindi! I will be including movies I have not talked about earlier so YAY!
5. The Shawshank Redemption

Available on: Netflix
Original Language: English
My rating: 3/5
IMDb: 9.3/10
Man, I am not sure if hope is a good thing but this movie surely is. I watched it years ago and still if someone asks me what movie will make them feel good, this name would be the first to pop in my mind.
The movie is a bit old and could have been a bit shorter but the journey is worth the wait. Also, it has Morgan Freeman! For desi kids, yes the Amitabh Bacchan of Hollywood.
4. The Intern

Available on: Netflix
Original Language: English
My rating: 4/5
IMDb: 7.1/10
I absolutely love this one. A workaholic and a retired intern? What do we have here? The most heart-warming movie I have ever watched. Keep your tissues ready!
Do you have a cranky boss?
Is your personal life non-existent?
Has someone close to you, failed you?
We got all of you covered here.
3. Piku

Available on: I am not sure why the mainstream apps have not included this gem. YouTube seems to be the only option
Original Language: Hindi
My rating: 3.5/5
IMDb: 7.6/10
A road trip in India with parents. Did that make you feel, "Ew"! Well, as much as they are annoying, they are ours to keep. Also, a family movie that you will not regret watching with your parents like you did when you watched "Baghban". Thank me later.
Oh! I forgot. You will appreciate Indian toilets more after this movie as well miss the legend, Irrfan Khan.
If you do not like Bollywood, this is still for you. Deepika does an amazing job in these types of movies and it's Shoojit Sircar. You have to appreciate him.
2. Gone Kesh

Available on: Prime
Original Language: Hindi
My rating: 4/5
IMDb: 7/10
Hair is more than an asset when we are talking about girls. No! I am not trying to contradict my older blog. All I mean is that is how we have internalized the societal beliefs.
Watch Shweta Tripathi ace her job as a girl with alopecia. She struggles, hides, breaks down and finally accepts what is in front of her. Worry not this is not a spoiler as my words are in no way equal to her acting.
1.The Wish Dragon

Available on: Netflix
Original language: English
My rating: 5/5
IMDb: 7.2/10
Finally an animation worth watching. This one is for the crazy people like me, who believe in connections over other things.
So, tell me if you had a wishing dragon what would you ask for? And, how long will you take before asking for a friend back?
This is about a boy who is as real and vulnerable as us.
That is all for this blog. I shared about movies that usually get ignored. Hope you watch some of these and remember me >.< Hehe! If you do, let me know in the comment section and if you have already watched these, leave a better movie for the readers. Have a happy week ahead!
