Netflix launched this new series that attracted me with the theme. (Also a suggestion by a school friend)
I binge-watched the whole series the previous Sunday by staying up till three in the morning.
I don't like teen romances much because they showcase unrealistic scenerios. But, this one was a mock on all of them.
As much as I love romance, the show offered view into life, in general.
'Never have I ever' is about a South Indian (tamilian, to be precise) girl who adjusts her life in an American school after she experiences major set backs...
The character development of Devi, seems normal, nothing fancy, and nothing too slow to not even show up in 10 episodes.
The episodes were to the point and relatable.
I really liked the rivelary between Ben and Devi and I shipped them ever since the beginning.
Yoshida's (Devi's crush) personality and story is yet to be seen.. and the show ends with a cliffhanger on Devi's phone.
I think all of us will understand the arguments Devi has with her family and friends.
I love how they showcased that we all are capable of making mistakes that doesn't mean we can't be in lead. This was wonderfully shown by the main character.
Devi's fight with 'not being enough...' is real and her dialogues hit on point, at many instances. Maitryee does a wonderful job there, probably because she comes from an Indian background and understands the character as a teenager herself.
Another character I enjoyed was Devi's therapist and her insights not only helped her but us too.
I really enjoyed the show and will be looking forward to season 2.

I have included two of my favourite quotes in the images.
Favourite Character: Devi and Ben
Favourite Episode: Episode 4: NHIE felt super Indian (Because i related to this one on spiritual levels)
