Hello everyone.
I know I haven't been blogging since a long time.
I guess there was this person motivating me to do more of such things and life happened, leading me temporarily blind to writing and reading.
But I have been trying to rewrite, if not lengthy poems or writeups, short proses and words.
Herein, I know i'm late to give a review on this bollywood movie, hence the title 'Opinion'.
Kabir Singh is a 2019 Indian romantic drama film written and directed by Sandeep Vanga. It is a remake of his own Telugu film Arjun Reddy (2017). The film stars Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani.
The things I admired about Kabir Singh:
Shahid Kapoor. He proved his acting skills. Took us back to the time of 'Jab we met' or 'Vivah' and showed us he can handle all kind of roles well. Though, this character did have some aggressive similarities to those he played in Haider or Udta Punjab.
Music score. Specially 'Bekhayali' by Sachet is a hit. I used to admire Arjit but I guess he became quite mainstream and Sachet's version holds 'Kabir's anger' more beautifully.
(SPOILER) The fact that the movie portrays that sometimes parents F*UP. Be it Preeti's dad or Kabir's family negligance to look into his relationship and do him a favour.
Having a career was equally important to Kabir as Preeti. He didn't leave one for another or ask her to do so.
The extra cut scenes available on youtube.
The comedy timing and friendship in it.
(Spoiler) Preeti's understanding of Kabir's anger. Specially after their fight infront of her house, she still tries to convey him the important message.
(Spoiler)

Kabir's Love for Preeti didn't change irrespective whose the child was. Or who Preeti married. This isn't psycho. This is uttermost beautiful thing one can experience, it is love. Yes, he was overcome by his madness and mistakes but aren't we all?
Preeti's love didn't change either. Irrespective of his mistakes, she knew he loved her.
Kabir's honesty with his profession, girls, or Preeti. He never lies. Even when that lie would have saved his whole life.
What I completely disliked about it:
(Spoiler)

Preeti's emotionless faces at times. Specially when he kisses her on cheek in public. Despite understanding the fact that this was supposed to make Preeti look innocent, it seemed stupid. One can be innocent yet speak for oneself. These tweets explain it further.

(SPOILER) The fact that Kabir slaps Preeti right infront of her house, where she was nowhere in fault at and never even tries to apologize for it. To further horror, he claims that 'She is just his GF AND can be nothing more'. Dude, she cracked into MBBS. JUST LIKE YOU. I'm not being a feminist here but that scene was really where I understood BF's like Kabir might be cooler but not husband.
Unnecessary casual sex scenes.
(Spoiler) Kabir understands the situation only after seeing Preeti or more like only after he loses every aspect of his life including his career as a surgeon, though it gives the moral that things sort out only by communication but it could have been late or it would have been, in real life.
Okay thats all for this post.
That makes the movie,
2/5 for me. The two only for the song and Shahid's acting.
